What Level of Care is Provided?

Avendelle at Lazy River offers assistance with activities of daily living (ADLs) like bathing, toileting, dressing, help transferring and with mobility as well as medication management. We are equipped to handle residents who are independent, need memory care or total care.

What is the Cost and What Does it Include?

Room and board, all utilities, 3 meals per day plus snacks, help with ADLs, all housekeeping and daily activities. Extra services like transportation, barber/hairdresser, podiatry, the cost of medications or personal items like toothbrush and deodorant are not included.

Is the Facility Licensed and Accredited?

Yes we are licensed by the state of North Carolina. This ensures we meet certain operational and care standards.

What Types of Living Spaces are Available?

We have private and semi-private rooms available and offer various amenities like large family room, patio with shade, walkable sidewalks in the neighborhood, a full kitchen and accessible bathrooms.

What is the Staff-to-Resident Ratio?

This ratio can vary but we strive for more personalized care and so 2 people on 1st and 2nd shift it typical with 1 person overnight. There is always someone in the building and management stays 15 minutes away if needed.

What Kind of Activities and Amenities are Offered?

We like to provide different opportunities for our residents. Exercise classes, social events, and group outings like a beach trip have all been a part of Avendelle at Lazy River’s activity calendar. We have communal dining areas, internet, cable TV, games, movies, music and more. Speak with the administrator for a more detailed outline.

How are Medical Emergencies Handled?

We have protocols in place for medical emergencies, including on-site staff trained in emergency response and relationships with local hospitals and medical centers. Specifically, staff is trained to assess the situation and call 911 if necessary. Then contact family members and finally management. They are trained to follow the care plan and any advanced directives in place.

Can the Care Level Adjust as Needs Change?

Yes. Sometimes care plans need to be adjusted as a resident’s needs change, accommodating increases in care up to a certain level, often including memory care services if feasible at Avendelle at Lazy River. We are designed for the resident to age in place so they are not bouncing around from one facility to the next.

What are the Visiting Policies?

Generally, from 10-6pm. We can make exceptions as long as notification protocols and necessary health and safety protocols are followed.

What is the Food Like?

We cater to various dietary needs and preferences. We pride ourselves on offering 3 nutritious balanced meal options per day plus snacks and provide a communal dining experience to encourage social interaction. Frankly, the meals are home cooked and delicious since we use fresh fruits and vegetables and real meats and fish.
